The Sachem East girls basketball team continued its usual playoff dominance Wednesday night in a Suffolk County Class AA quarterfinal victory over Riverhead.
The second-seeded Arrows (17-2) beat No. 7 Riverhead (12-8), 63-38, at home in Farmingville, N.Y. and secured a spot in the county semifinals on Saturday against Walt Whitman. That game will be played just down North Ocean Avenue at St. Joseph’s College starting at 3 p.m.
Sachem East was led by Katie Doherty, who scored 21 points and added seven assists.
Kathleen Everson had a double-double, scoring 16 points – 12 in the third quarter – and grabbing 11 rebounds.
