Earlier on Saturday, Sachem alum Alex Harris was enjoying a lacrosse game at his alma mater as Sachem North hosted Riverhead at Fred Fusaro Alumni Stadium.
Sachem junior Michael Slattery struck up a conversation with Harris, a sophomore on the men’s lacrosse team at Stony Brook, on the sidelines just before the game.
“Have you scored a goal yet?” Slatts asked.
“I’m a defenseman,” Harris said, “so I don’t get to shoot much. I did get a shot last game.”
All that talk about goal scoring pushed Harris in the right direction. He scored his first collegiate goal Saturday night as Stony Brook lost 21-12 to Albany at home.
