Student artwork to appear in Dowling’s Anthony Giordano Gallery

540700_370572666393502_507690272_nThe New York State Art Teachers’ Association (NYSATA) Region 10 is pleased to announce the Portfolio Project. The Portfolio Project was held at Sachem East over the weekend where adjudicators evaluated over 150 student portfolios from school districts all over Long Island.

According to the NYSATA, the Portfolio Project is an initiative of NYSATA that was developed in cooperation with the New York State Education Department. It is an authentic assessment tool that is based on The New York State Learning Standards and provides students with an opportunity to present portfolios of their work at regional adjudication sites.

Following the Portfolio Project all participating students will have select work exhibited at the Anthony Giordano Gallery at Dowling College. The reception for this exhibit is on Saturday, May 4, 2013 from 2-4 p.m. all are invited to attend.

The Anthony Giordano Gallery at Dowling College will feature, The Portfolio Project: Art Students of Long Island. This exhibition highlights the finest work by Long Island art students. The organizers of this special exhibition are the teachers of The New York State Art Teachers Association (NYSATA) Region 10 / Long Island Art Teachers’ Association which is a non-profit professional organization founded in 1948 for the purpose of advancing the cause of art education.

The gallery at Dowling College is located at 96 Biltmore Avenue, at the corner of Biltmore Avenue and Idle Hour Boulevard in Oakdale, New York. Gallery hours are Wednesday, 11:00 a.m. to 8:00 p.m. Thursday and Friday from 10:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m. and Saturday 12:00 p.m. to 4:00 p.m. Admission is free.
