Running in honor of Boston and the victims from the tragic events that took place during the Boston Marathon last month, Sachem East teacher/coach Jaimie Sison ran the Long Island Marathon on Saturday.

With a personal goal of breaking 3:25:00 in the race, she outdid herself and finished in 3:21:34, good enough for the sixth best finish for females and 63rd overall out of 677 total racers.

In years past she  competed in the New York City Marathon and the Marine Corps Marathon in Washington, D.C.

Originally she was on pace to break 3:20, but had to stop at miles 23 and 25 to stretch her calves due to sever muscle cramps.

Sison also qualified for Boston 2014. Females 35 and under must run a 3:35.00 or under to qualify.

“Overall, a successful day,” she said, “but I am never completely satisfied.”
