Sequoya art work featured in Anthony Giordano Gallery

This year, Sachem High School East hosted the New York State Art Teachers’ Association Portfolio Project. Over one hundred student portfolios from school districts all over Long Island (including Sachem) were evaluated by trained adjudicators.

About 32 students from Sachem participated in the project, including seven from Sequoya Middle School. The students from Sequoya Middle School attended meetings after school every month, worked independently and were very dedicated to developing their portfolio to present to the judges on Saturday. All of the seven students received high scores and were classified as either Distinguished (the highest) or Proficient.

Following the Portfolio Project, all participating students had select work exhibited at the Anthony Giordano Gallery at Dowling College.

Sequoya’s students who participated included Kelly Hartigan (8th Grade), Brittany Iadanza (8th Grade), Julie McGroarty (8th Grade), Alexandra Ranaudo (8th Grade), Cynthia Brand (8th Grade), Erin Leonard (8th Grade) and Tanner Hanzl (8th Grade).
