It’s hard to believe it’s been 10 seasons since Sachem East played its first football game. The Arrows are celebrating 10 years of football this year and launched the 2013 festivities on Monday afternoon when the program unveiled its Ring of Honor at its annual golf outing held at Cherry Creek Golf Club in Riverhead, N.Y.

The Ring of Honor includes all team captains and players who have won All-County awards at Sachem East. These players, along with members of Sachem East’s first team from 2004, will be honored during half time of the Week 1 game on Sept. 11. Sachem East will host Sachem North that night at 6 p.m.

Al Bertalone, the first head coach in Sachem East history, will be honored that night as well.

“One of the key stones to our program is leadership, the responsibility to be a good citizen and role model,” said Sachem East head coach Mark Wojciechowski. “The idea that even when no one is looking you do the right thing, to be the best person you can be, to live up to your potential.”

The banner of the Ring of Honor will be placed in the weight room at Sachem East.
