It’s not officially field hockey season until Sachem East and Ward Melville face off.
With an absolutely stacked roster and a two-time defending state champion chip on its shoulder, East is on another level. Ward Melville couldn’t hang with the Arrows Wednesday afternoon as Sachem East captured a 5-0 victory over their Suffolk County Division I rivals.
Cara Trombetta led Sachem East (2-0) with three goalies, while and Allie Laird, Katie Doherty scored the others.
Sachem East’s Desteny Holder made one save in net.
East heads to Commack on Friday afternoon for their next game with an opening draw set for 4 p.m.
