Sachem North opened the 2013 playoffs with a 2-0 victory over North Babylon on Tuesday afternoon.
Led by Brandon Arango’s two goals and Harrison Weilbacher’s two assists, the sixth-seeded Flaming Arrows (13-3-1) are headed to the Suffolk County Class AA quarterfinals for the second straight season.
Sachem will travel to No. 3 Central Islip on Friday at 2 p.m. The Muskateers have beaten Sachem twice this season in two previous meetings.
Vinny Formato recorded his eighth shutout of the season for Sachem.
Both of Arango’s goals came in the second half, including a beautiful diving header on a feed from Weilbacher.
North Babylon, seeded No. 11, finished its season 10-6-1.
