Twice is pretty nice, at least for Sachem North’s Rachel Heymach anyway. The junior diver captured her second straight Suffolk County diving championship Friday at Hauppauge High School.
She scored a personal-best 433.60 in the 1-meter dive, a mark good enough to qualify her her the state swimming and diving championships at Ithaca College on Nov. 22-23.
“I was really stressed out about trying to keep the title,” Heymach told Newsday. “I just wanted to score better than I had before.”
Cruising with a mixture of old and moves and techniques, Heymach led by as much as 16.20 points heading into the finals.
