The Sachem North varsity girls cross country team held its annual awards luncheon this week. Here’s a look at the honors handed out:

Sachem’s Will to Win Award is given to team members who demonstrate the 3-Ds (desire, dedication, determination) of athletics and possess other intangibles and qualities exhibited at all workouts and on meet days. They make their teammates better through both word and deed. Team members select Will to Win Award winners.

SACHEM HOME XC COURSE RECORD: Congratulations to Elise Ramirez as she set a new Sachem North home 5 kilometer in a time of 19:36 in our team’s dual meet season-opener versus Sachem East. Elise bested the old course record (19:43) set a year ago by former teammate and current Stony Brook University Seawolves harrier Kelly Lavan.
