Sachem alum Dalton Crossan led New Hampshire in rushing during the Wildcats’ 52-14 loss to North Dakota in the FCS semifinals Friday night.

Crossan had 3 carries for 26 yards in the loss and finished a successful redshirt freshman campaign that saw him make the most of every situation just about every time he touched the ball. He was twice named Colonial Athletic Association Rookie of the Week.

Crossan finished with 29 carries for 359 rushing yards, 4 touchdowns and a 27.6 yards per carry average. He had 11 receptions for 112 yards, 1 touchdown and a 10.2 yards per catch average. On special teams he had 17 returns for 401 yards, 1 touchdown and a 23.6 yards per return average, plus five tackles. In total he had 872 all-purpose yards, which ranked fourth on the team.

New Hampshire played in the national spotlight on ESPN2 inside the Fargo Dome against top-ranked North Dakota, who won the last two FCS National Championships and is the front runner again this year.

Sachem has had alums compete in high level bowl games and football playoffs before. It was routine for Jumbo Elliott and Michigan to play in a bowl game every year he attended the school in the 1980s. Brian Bravy was also a lineman on the 1990 Georgia Tech National Championship squad.

Crossan and UNH will surely be hungry for more as his career progresses with the Wildcats.
