Merrimac Elementary School was recently recognized as one of 217 schools to receive a grant from the I am a Leader Foundation in recognition of the school’s “Leader In Me” program.”
Under the guidance of Principal Veronica DeCicco, through the building’s commitment to build a leadership-focused school culture, Merrimac has generated national acclaim.
The grant was made possible by the generosity of Andrew and Peggy Cherng, founders of Panda Restaurant Group (Panda Express).
“It is our hope that each school that has been impacted by their generosity will create leadership opportunities for their students to express gratitude throughout the year,” wrote Michelle Craig, a representative from the “I Am a Leader Foundation, in a letter to Mrs. DeCicco.
Additionally, the foundation is having a beautiful metal plaque made to prominently display in the school.
