East wins League title, crowns four champs

There’s no place like home. Sachem East, hosting the League I wrestling tournament, finished first with 258.5 points and saw four wrestlers win league championships before a packed gym at the high school.

Jakob Restrepo won his second league title and improved to 35-0 this season. He beat teammate Austin Serra, 11-3, at 145 pounds.

Mark Tracy, wrestling at 182 pounds, is now the first three-time league champion in Sachem East history after beating Patchogue-Medford’s Jake Horton, 3-0.

Mike Pistone beat Brentwood’s Stephen Nunez, 5-3, in the 170 pound final.

Junior Sean Dee pinned William Floyd’s Brian Gerle in 1:24.

Serra, Connor Farrell, Doug Iadanza and Anthony Messina all finished as league runner ups.

Sachem East was followed by Pat-Med (198) and Brentwood (179.5) in total team points.

Next up is the Suffolk County Division I wrestling tournament at Hofstra University on February 14 and 16.
