Sachem alum and Olympian Maria Michta was named USA Track & Field Athlete of the Week after her performance at the World Cup Trials in New Jersey last weekend.
She broke a 14-year-old American record in the 20k racewalk.
Michta, who competed in the 2012 London Olympics, is still looking for her first international title, which could come next month at the World Championships in China.
