Rachel Loyst, a freshman at Sachem North, competed at the U.S. Freestyle Championships at Deer Valley Resort in Utah in March.
The competition featured the top skiers in the United States, including Olympian Hanna Kearney, and Loyst, yours truly from Sachem.
Loyst, 15, competes for the Stratton Vermont Freestyle Ski Team, which sports the largest freestyle program in the country with more than 200 competitors.
Loyst happened to be the only athlete to qualify for Nationals from Stratton and was one of the youngest competitors to participate.
She competed in the moguls and dual moguls.
Loyst was featured on the front cover of The Park Rec0rd newspaper in Utah during the competition.
