Colonel speaks to U.S. history students

Retired Col. Howard “Stretch” Grohman met with Alison Sinacore’s Advanced Placement U.S. History students last week.

Col. Grohman shared experiences and stories from his long career in the military.

He spoke of being drafted, serving in Vietnam as a platoon commander, serving in Washington D.C. as riot control in the late 1960s and early 1970s, serving in West Germany during the Cold War, and his current work in the Pentagon.

“He shared in great detail, war stories, anecdotes, and artifacts,” said Sinacore.
