With a 15-44 win over Middle Country yesterday at Sunken Meadow, the Sachem East girls XC squad continued undefeated in League II action.

All-State harriers Alex DeCicco and Val Romero continue to lead the team with Rachel Ruggiero, Jill Manfredi, Caitlin O’Hehir, Ciara Murphy, Tiffany Ly, Lauren Harris, Karli Murphy, Kaylie Wessberg, Kaitlin Veigl, Shayna Arrigo, Chelsea Benedict, and Rachel Semetsis all running 22 minutes or better for 5K this season– making them the deepest squad on Long Island.

Currently ranked No. 6 in New York State, according to Armory Track, the Arrows will be competing in the Eastern States Championship race at the Manhattan College Invitational held at Van Cortlandt Park in New York City this Saturday.

Featuring 25 of the top programs from 11 different States, the race will be headlined by defending National Champions Fayetteville-Manlius of upstate New York (currently ranked US No. 2).

Having won the Villa Bears Invitational over four different NYS-ranked teams and finishing 2nd in the Queensbury Invitational behind only US No. 3 Saratoga Springs, the East Girls are banking on the high level competition spurring continued high level performance. The Manhattan College Invitational has over 400 teams competing and is the largest meet on the East Coast each XC season.
