Alum was dedicated community figure in school district and fire department
Sachem alum and former Sachem Board of Education trustee Michael Timo, Jr. has passed away. He was 66.
Timo, an Ex-Chief and Fire Commissioner of the Holbrook Fire Department, graduated from Sachem in 1969. He was a resident of Sachem for more than 60 years and began serving on the school board in 2007.
Timo worked as a district manager in both the Lakeland and Smithtown Fire Districts. He was also the athletic director and varsity soccer coach at LaSalle Military Academy.
Timo was very involved with his alma mater, serving as the president of the Dowling College Alumni Association, and he was an administrator at the YMCA and Arthritis Foundation.
The wake will be Wednesday, March 7 and Thursday, March 8 from 1-3 p.m. and 6-9 p.m. at the Holbrook Fire Department located at 390 Terry Blvd. in Holbrook. There will be a mass on Friday, March 9 at St. Joseph’s in Ronkonkoma with a repose at Holy Sepulchre in Coram.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Michael J. Timo Scholarship Fund, payable to the Holbrook Fire Dept, 390 Terry Blvd, Holbrook, N.Y. 11741.
He is survived by his wife Patricia, children Michael III (Melissa), Christopher (Danielle), Jill Seddio (James), Brenda and Jayne Timo, brother Barbara Nadimi, Diane Timo and the late Joyce Timo and his grandchildren Alexa, Tori, Brandon, Justin, Hailey and Mikayla.
