Another banner year for SEGVTF …
Representatives from the Nassau and Suffolk Track Coaches Associations, NSCHSSA, and USATF Long Island recently announced the 2017-2018 All-Long Island Indoor Track teams with a number of Sachem student-athletes named as one of the three honorees in each of the 21 major events contested during the Indoor season.
On the boys side, Sachem East’s Justin Alone was named third team in the 3.200 meters, recording a best time of 9:33.50 at the state championships.
On the girls side, Sachem East was named the Long Island Team of the Year, with Longwood taking second and St Anthony’s third.
All- American Racewalkers Marget Atwood and Chelsea Benedict were named first and third team, respectively, and Sachem East relay squads accumulated five All-Long Island honors out of the seven relay events.
Sachem East’s 4×400 and 4×800 quartets were named third team, and the distance medley squad was named second team.
The shuttle hurdle relay and four-mile relay squads were both ranked first on Long Island. Rachel Ruggiero, Melissa Merone, Bridget Abraldes, Jeilyn Balbuena, Skylar Papele, Arya Despande, Shayna Arrigo, Kaitlyn Famiglietti, Lauren Trejo, Angela Consolazio, and Brook Papele all earned All-Long Island honors for their outstanding relay performances.
