Youth crop of Sachem gridders capture title, ignite spirit in community
In dramatic fashion, Luke LaRocca scored the game-winning touchdown with 13 seconds left on a 3-yard quarterback sneak to push Sachem past Longwood in a 26-21 victory to win the Suffolk County PAL Championship.
The offensive line, led by James Chirichella, Luke Watson, Brayden Seigler, Vito Depalo, and Dwayne Dumpson, opened up massive holes for running backs Sean Hannigan (one touchdown) and Lucas Bouchard (two touchdowns).
Sachem’s defense held Longwood to one score in the second half. Leading the defensive effort in the secondary were Lucas Bouchard, Gavin Nuzzi, Ryan Lamm and Cole Jacob and linebackers Hannigan Larocca and Ty Passanisi.
Sachem is coached by Vinnie Hannigan, Jim LaRocca, Paul Bouchard and Vito Depalo.
They finished the season undefeated for the second straight year.
