Sachem Combines to Feed 2,000-Plus Families on Thanksgiving

Another year, another strong level of support from Sachem in the community

The holiday and giving spirit are stronger than ever in Sachem. Students and staff across the district combined efforts to donate more than 2,000 boxes for Thanksgiving food drives this year. Even more special, food donated from Sachem buildings helps to feed families within the Sachem community, thanks to various organizations who help distribute the items.

Led by Sachem North’s Student Government donation of 1,688 boxes, food has been collected in every building throughout the school district. Sachem East’s Student Government worked hard to gather 319 boxes.

At Sachem North a group of dedicated students called the “Robin Hood Kids” collected more than $3,000 to purchase turkeys, while the well-known student group, the “Dirty Dozen,” was responsible for more than 1,500 of the total boxes delivered to families.

For weeks students have been seen at local food stories drumming up support and donations leading up to this miraculous and meaningful effort.
