Becomes latest Sachem wrestler to capture county glory
A sweet victory in the 99-pound Suffolk County championship capped off a successful tournament for Sachem East’s Jared Weinhaus.
He pinned each of his opponents en route to the crown, which he ultimately won by defeating Ward Melville’s Christian Lievano with a pin in 1:32.
Weinhaus’ season continues when he heads to the New York State wrestling tournament in Albany on February 22-23.
Sachem East placed ninth as a team with 79 total points.
Sam Matlat, Steve Dorman and Mark Kmiotek placed sixth, while Angel Pineda placed fifth for Sachem East.
