The next Dezy Strong event will be on Friday, September 27
On Friday, September 27, Sachem East Football at their 2019 home opener vs Walt Whitman be honoring Matt “Dezy” DiStefano a Sachem alumni, teacher and coach, is using his illness as a platform to help others with the DezyStrong Foundation.
At DezyStrong, they believe the mind is a powerful thing. Fighting cancer takes a strong body and a strong mind. The goal of the DezyStrong Foundation is to support those affected by cancer keep a healthy and strong mental outlook during their fight. They help by providing with the ability to create and share special experiences along with the ability to share it with friends, family, or other loved ones.
“When people find out they have cancer, they think their life is over,” said DiStefano. “For me it’s different. For me, it’s the beginning of something special in life. A life in which I can help others change their way of mentally approaching the disease, learning to be a warrior, a fighter, and have hope.”
