Former Sachem kicker succeeding at next level
The Eastern Collegiate Football Conference (ECFC) announced on the All-Conference teams on Thursday afternoon. The Maritime College football team picked up an impressive 17 awards, including Joseph Gagliardi (Ronkonkoma, N.Y./Sachem North) being named Special Teams Player of the Year.
Gagliardi has made a huge 2019 season as he opened up the year with a game-winning 43-yard field goal against Maine Maritime. He then continued his clutch play in a 13-10 overtime win against Anna Maria, where he hit a game-tying 37-yard field goal with 17 seconds left, and then a game-winning 29-yard field goal in overtime. He is currently 128 yards shy of setting the single-season record for punt yards and is at the top of the record books for field goal percentage at 87.5 percent. He has 12 punts pinned inside the 20-yard line and four punts of over 50 yards.
