Dalton Crossan Transitioning from Gridiron to Corporate World

Dalton Crossan transformed his competitive spirit from the football field to corporate. One season removed from his NFL dreams, Crossan is now building a passion for the insurance industry and helping his clients build secure portfolios.

The Sachem alum who signed professional contracts with the Indianapolis Colts and Tampa Bay Buccaneers before a brief stint with Ottawa of the Canadian Football League is an insurance specialist at Hotaling Insurance Services, a fully independent risk management and insurance broker.

He traded pigskin for life insurance and breaking first downs for personal property and casualty insurance, and much more.

“I have always been and always will be ultra competitive in everything I do,” he said. “It has always been sports since I was a young kid, but now I am excited to take that same drive and competitive nature and transfer that energy into business.”

Through his contacts in football, from the field to the front office, Crossan has built a valuable network and is hoping to connect the dots and opportunities.

Crossan majored in business at New Hampshire and while he was busy racking up more than 5,000 all-purpose yards, he was, in fact, gathering the necessary skills that are now being applied in his career.

“Whether it’s finance and numbers, investing, people skills, networking, research and development skills, marketing, there is so much that I learned and it’s paying dividends now in the business world,” he said.

Directly after his retirement from football, he began working with another Sachem alum, Jeff Wallner, on sports and entertainment development projects. That experience and relationship led him to Hotaling.

“Everything works out how it’s supposed to,” said Crossan.

And don’t close the book on his athletic career just yet. Fully healthy and still ultra competitive with his ability, he has his eyes set on a professional sports comeback in lacrosse. Highly recruited out of Sachem, most notably Notre Dame, he hopes to pick up a stick at the highest level again in 2021.
