Just 17 years old, Joe Scally made his Major League Soccer debut for New York City FC this week in a 2-0 win over New England Revolution.
“Just hearing my name get called in alongside Nico [Acevedo] is definitely an experience I have been waiting for for the past two and a half years,” he said in a story on the NYCFC site. “I remember each part of it. Just memorable touches and everything like that. It was definitely an experience I won’t forget.”
Still a Sachem North student, Scally signed his first pro contract in 2018. He will be transferred to Borussia Mönchengladbach of the Bundesliga in January 2021.
