Former longtime Sachem lacrosse coach Rick Mercurio is no stranger to halls of fame.
The Sachem Athletic Hall of Famer, who is very involved with helping grow the game through the Federation of International Lacrosse, has been tapped as the chair of a working group that will develop a hall of fame for World Lacrosse.
The hall of fame will honor, celebrate, preserve and share the outstanding accomplishments and contributions of those who have achieved excellence in the sport of lacrosse, according to a release from World Lacrosse.
Mercurio’s working group will define the name, mission, vision, categories for induction, nomination and selection criteria and format of inductions.
Mercurio is also an inductee of the Suffolk Sports Hall of Fame, Rutgers Athletic Hall of Fame and Long Island Metropolitan Lacrosse Hall of Fame.
