Sachem Alums, Hofstra Students Get Valuable Experience Covering 2020 Presidential Election

While millions across the country watch U.S. Presidential election coverage on television and social media, Sachem alums and Hofstra students Tino Pattigno and Michael Coursen got a front row seat for history.

Pattigno and Coursen were part of the Hofstra Votes Live editorial team that offered multi-platform coverage for the Lawrence Herbert School of Communication.

Pattigno was one of the marketing and PR directors for the coordinated effort on television, radio and digital and visible on university social media channels. Coursen was a cameraman and on the production team that helped gather footage and film content.

“Hofstra Votes Live was the hardest project I’ve been a part of and that made the result so much more fulfilling,” said Pattigno, a journalism major. “I’m so grateful for the opportunity & the amazing team I worked with. I hope to continue this journey and make everyone proud of the legacy I leave.”

Both students are in their sophomore years at Hofstra and graduated from Sachem North in 2018. They played football for the Flaming Arrows and embarked on their journey at Hofstra at the same time.
