Sachem alumnus David Foster was recently selected to the SUNYAC Lacrosse All-Decade Team.

Foster, who graduated from Sachem East in 2013, was one of 31 SUNYAC Lacrosse players chosen from the 2000-2019 decade to comprise the squad.

Foster’s accomplishments:

*4 year starter at Cortland (2014-2017)

*Helped Cortland earn a berth in the NCAA Division III tournament all four years; three years tied for fifth in the country, and tied for ninth in the country the fourth year

*2 year Cortland lacrosse team captain (2016-17)

*Three-time Honorable Mention All-American (2015-17)

*Three-time First Team All-SUNYAC (2015-17)

*Career totals of 129 ground balls, 50 caused turnovers (fourth at Cortland since stat was first tracked in 2010), 4 goals, 5 assists, 9 points in 74 games played

*2017 & 2018 SUNY Scholar-Athlete Award for men’s lacrosse

You may recall Foster’s pivotal role in Sachem East football’s Suffolk County semifinal game in 2012. He scored on fourth-and-10 from the 20-yard line with 9:19 left on a pass from a scrambling Danny Wolf. That tied the game at 21 and Sachem East eventually won.

As a freshman at Cortland he played football and lacrosse. Originally only intending to play football, which resulted in a Cortica Cup win, he eventually settled into a four-year lacrosse career and the rest all worked out.
