Sachem’s community and holiday spirit was visible in so many ways during the most trying times this year.
New York State Assemblyman Doug Smith and Suffolk County Legislator Anthony Piccirillo, both proud Sachem alums, teamed up for a toy drive that will benefit families through the Victims Information Bureau of Suffolk (VIBS).
“We want to thank everyone who participated in our holiday toy drive for being so generous and against all odds during this tough time,” said Smith on a video posted to Facebook.
Added Piccirillo: “I want to thank the community members. We put this call to action out on social media both of us and this is the culmination of that call to action. All of these gifts are going to go to people who really need them for the holiday season. The community really knows how to come together and I couldn’t be more proud.”
They also paid special thanks to Stony Brook Urology, Amvets Post 1174 in Holbrook and the Sachem North Honor Society for their support of the toy drive.
