Make that two championships for Sachem alum Justin Bonsignore.
The Sachem East grad and Holtsville native captured his second Nascar Whelen Modified Tour championship this season.
He won three races on a shortened nine race schedule and finished no higher than fifth the entire season.
“I thought a lot about it over the offseason last year, and I wanted to make sure I was smarter this year with my calls,” Bonsignore said on Hometracks.Nascar.com. “I feel like I was noticeably calmer at the racetrack during practice, during the races, making smarter decisions.”
His 29 career wins in 14 years rank sixth all-time in the modified series.
