Rich Cimini Named New York State Sportswriter of the Year

Sachem alum Rich Cimini has been named New York State Sportswriter of the Year by the National Sports Media Association.

Nominated and voted on by his peers, Cimini, who started his career writing for the Sachem Harbinger, covers the New York Jets for ESPN.

Having covered the team since 1989, Cimini is the longest tenured Jets beat writer. That’s a lot bad football and good writing.

Cimini is an inductee of the Sachem Athletic Hall of Fame and Suffolk County Sports Hall of Fame.

The NSMA will honor winners during the organization’s 61st awards weekend, tentatively set for June 26-28, 2021, in Winston-Salem, N.C.
