This is a project meant to preserve the stories of the people who helped make the community what it is today. I’ll speak with coaches, teachers, administrators, alumni for various perspectives on the school community.
After each year worth of interviews, the segments will be downloaded on hard drives and also physically transcribed and printed and then donated to the Sachem Public Library’s Long Island History Room and the libraries at both Sachem North and Sachem East for historic preservation.
First up, former longtime Sachem football coach and physical education teacher Fred Fusaro. Rather than talk about specific games or players, we spoke about his upbringing, his coaching journey, what made him tick and his perception on the growth of the school system during his tenure.
