Sachem Alum Joe Amplo Helps U.S. Lacrosse Win World Championship

Sachem alum Joe Amplo won his second World Championship with the U.S. Men’s Lacrosse Team after the Stars & Stripes beat Canada, 10-7, in San Diego.

Amplo is an assistant coach with the U.S. team under head coach John Danowski, who he played for at Hofstra University. He also won gold in 2018.

After the game, Amplo was congratulated by his former Sachem coach Rick Mercurio, who was on the field as a representative of World Lacrosse.

Amplo is the head men’s lacrosse coach at the U.S. Naval Academy and is an inductee of the Sachem Athletic Hall of Fame.
